Hospital packing list for mom and baby

Before you dive into this list, check with your hospital on what they will provide. Most likely, they will give you a list of things they expect you to carry.

Here’s a full list of all the essentials required (links added wherever available):

BABY

  1. Cap, socks and mittens
  2. Blanket
  3. Mattress with a mosquito net
  4. Napkins
  5. Diapers (taped diapers work well)
  6. Cloth diapers (these are much gentler on baby skin)
  7. Cotton balls (I’m mentioning this instead of wet wipes because wet cotton works better on new born skin)
  8. Nail trimmer
  9. Soap & shampoo
  10. Laundry detergent
  11. Hot water flask
  12. Water boiler
  13. A bowl and spoon

MOM

  1. 3-4 set of day clothes (feeding friendly)
  2. Night clothes (feeding friendly)
  3. Undergarments
  4. Going home clothes
  5. Sweater / shawl
  6. Socks
  7. Towel
  8. Feeding cover
  9. Feeding pillow

Toiletries:

  1. Body wash
  2. Face wash

  3. Maternity pads – my hospital provided these and insisted I use the ones provided by them
